Purpose

The purpose of this document is to define the Carshalton Football Club Cry Off Procedure to be followed by ALL players.  Non availability must be notified to skippers and / or the Team Secretary prior to Mondays.  The Cry-Off Procedure applies only in the event of a selected player becoming unavailable after being selected to represent a Carshalton side.

Responsibilities

Players are responsible for

·         Checking Team Selection to ensure

1.       they have been selected when available

2.       they have not been selected when unavailable

and notifying the Team Secretary in either event.

·         Contacting the Team Secretary immediately they become unavailable to play in a game for which they have been selected

Skippers are responsible for

·         arranging additional players to fill gaps caused by cry-offs after 9pm Thursday

Team Secretary is responsible for

·         arranging replacements for sides in the event of cry-offs being received during the week, until 9pm Thursday and contacting skippers of the sides affected by the Selection changes

·         ensuring a valid reason is provided for any player’s non or late appearance for a match

·         recording statistics on cry-offs by player and side

Procedure

The correct procedure for crying off is:

Principles

·         Cry-offs must be made as soon as possible.  If this is before 9pm Thursday, the Team Secretary will organise replacements and notify skippers.  Any cry-offs after 9pm Thursday result in the skippers organising replacements.  ANY late cry-offs have serious selection implications and will be subject to an internal Selection Committee investigation.  The Selection Committee may impose sanctions where no valid reason has been forthcoming.  Repeat offenders may have their membership terminated.

·         Cry-offs should be minimised by accurate availability information being supplied by players to the skippers prior to the Selection Committee Meeting.

·         Players must provide reasons for any cry-offs.

·         Cry-offs without a valid reason (in the opinion of the Team Secretary), may result in a Club suspension.  The length of the suspension is determined by the Selection Committee, chaired by the Team Secretary.
