A prolonged spell of unprecedented arctic weather conditions from December to February compelled the SAL Management Committee to abandon the league programme as planned. A subsidiary competition for the first 4 sides of each club in the league was organised and started in early March. Clubs were placed in 8 groups and at a prearranged date the leaders of each group formed a knockout competition.
Not to be outdone by the success of Club sides in recent seasons in the AFA cups, Jake Jacobs skippered the 2nd XI to the final of the AFA Junior Cup where they played Westminster Bank at the Lensbury Ground.
The Bank scored first and looked likely to add to it, but Carshalton gradually came back and equalised. It was a dour struggle in extra time. With time running out, a Bill Collins decoy was just enough to give Chris Whitehouse time for a shot, which powered in off the crossbar. A Bill Collins strike and another from Jimmy James late in extra time made certain of the victory. The team that day was: Joe Lawless, Roger Pillings, Jack Hayes, George Brown, Jake Jacobs, Peter Blake, John Sisley, Bill Collins, Chris Whitehouse, Jimmy James, Peter Carr.
