In marked contrast to the previous season, this was a very poor year for the whole Club. The 1st XI finished a disappointing 6th in Division 3 – their lowest finish ever in the SAL.
The 2s were relegated from Division 1 when they finished bottom of the table with only 6 points.
The 3s just held on to their Division 1 status, but the 4s, 5s & 6s all finished in the bottom 2 of their respective divisions.
Much hard work was put in by volunteers, particularly by Frank Shepherd in damp proofing, flooring and decorating the "Scott’s Café" building. But no matter what was done to make it as hospitable as possible, it was not quite like home.
The tea ladies, Mollie Williams, Katie Wombill and Peggy Philpott amongst others bore the brunt in unfamiliar surroundings. Jack Wombill worked long hours in the bar and much patient work was put in behind the scenes by the small committee elected for the purpose of rehabilitation. Despite this being a very trying season for the Club, there was much of the Carshalton spirit in evidence in the face of adversity, with many Club members working beyond the call of duty.
