1968-69 was not an outstanding season as far as the football was concerned. The 1st XI were the most successful side, but once again failed to climb out of the SAL basement, finishing 3rd again. This time they were well behind the promoted sides and in the final 2 months of the season were never in the hunt for a promotion spot.
The 2s had another disastrous season, finishing bottom of Division 2 and so suffering relegation in successive seasons. The best that can be said about the other sides is that they managed to avoid relegation.
What the Club lacked in football skills was more than made up for in social activities. Despite the poor facilities, "Scott’s Café" was the scene of many a good social night. There was also another highly successful Easter tour to Woolacombe.
In an effort to raise funds for the new Pavilion, the Club ran a very successful ‘100’ Club under the auspices of financial wizard Peter Ainger. In addition to this, a ‘200’ Club was run jointly with Beddington Cricket Club, which was to continue until 1974. By the end of the season, the Pavilion Fund stood at £1,100 and tenders were out for the rebuilding with work scheduled to commence in June 1969.
The Club News was filled with high quality, entertaining reports from Barry Carpenter, Dick Stoker & Graham Wilson Pratt, which introduced a sharper edge to the Club News. After doing so much to modernise this publication, Len Williams was forced to resign as Editor in February 1969, due to work commitments.
