After a promising start the 1s looked a good bet for promotion, but missed out again. The 3s were relegated to Division 2 after the final game of the season, ending a tremendous run for skipper Jake Jacobs of 14 years in the First Division.
Len Williams outlined the plans for the new pavilion to the Club membership…
"The plan briefly is to develop a two tier building, the lower level consisting of three dressing rooms, one beer cellar, large equipment store, all this at ground level. The upper part will consist of one large hall, surrounded outside on two or three sides by a verandah as before. This will provide cover for spectators in bad weather. The main hall will be larger than the old hall as the dressing rooms which were created by folding back the partitions at one end will now be on the lower level. Off the main hall we shall have the kitchen and ladies room and, roughly in the same position as before, the bar. Adequate window space on three sides of the building facing the playing area will mean that if it is very cold or wet, games could be watched from inside glass in hand! All this should make things very comfortable and make it unnecessary for our esteemed editor to advertise The Coach and Horses, The Greyhound, The Plough, etc every week in the Club News – I trust we get a fee for this advertising!"
After 8 years service, Peter Ainger retired as Hon. Treasurer. The Club owed much to his professional skills to guide the Club through the financially difficult times of "The Great Carshalton Fire".
