In May 1974 there was another fire at the pavilion. Structural repairs were required and the bar was the first area renovated by Beddington CC. The main changing rooms suffered only superficial damage, but the kitchen and washing areas were devastated. This meant drastically reduced standards of facilities available to our guests. The tea ladies once again excelled themselves under difficult conditions. Work started in April 1975 and the total cost for the repairs ran to £15,500 to rebuild the pavilion, the rear changing rooms and the shed. Temporary arrangements for changing facilities were made with nearby Wallington High School.
After 3 straight defeats at the start of the season, Gary McKale gave up the captaincy of the 1st XI and keeper Greg Walker took over. His team was able to hold their Division 2 status comfortably, but never looked like progressing any further.
The rest of the sides didn’t fair any better. Only the 6s were remotely successful, winning promotion to Division 1 after finishing runners up with a record of:
