In a season in which the 1st XI almost realised their ambition of returning to Division 1 at the first attempt, there was consolation in winning the AFA Surrey Senior Cup. Victories against City of London Polytechnic 3-1, Wandsworth Borough 5-3 and Old Wilsonians 2-1 aet, set up a meeting in the final with CENTYMCA at Temple Bar FC, Kingswood. As The Club News reported…

"Playing with a stiff breeze behind them in the first half they put us under a certain amount of pressure, but created only one clear cut chance which was foiled by a good save from Barnes. At the other end both Irwin and Ballard went close with good efforts and at times with Hithersay as usual spreading play intelligently we were building some promising moves.

With the wind behind us in the second half we took complete control of the game and Horn missed by a fraction before Cocker, Llewellyn and Hithersay all hit the metal work with rasping shots. To our credit we kept plugging away in a disciplined manner and obtained our just reward about 15 minutes from the end when Irwin made the bye line and squared the ball across for Llewellyn to strike the ball crisply into the goal.

Lay came on as substitute and performed capably, while in a good team performance, Stewart, Irwin and Llewellyn played particularly well.

Team – Doug Barnes, Peter Dunckley, Ian Wigham, Geoff Stewart, Yarnie Ballard, Alan Irwin, Chris Hithersay, Frank Cocker, Chris Jones, Nick Llewellyn, Bobby Horn – sub Danny Lay."

The 4s won the Division 2 title under Peter Rose with a record of:

and the Vets took the Old Grammarians 7-a-side tournament trophy. Goals from Ray Fillery and a brace from Bill Backers were enough for a 3-1 extra time win in the final against Barclays Bank.
