The 1st XI’s hard work pre season, good organisation and positive attitude paid dividends as they led the league at the start of January. Due to bad weather, the team didn’t have a game for four weeks and the next league game wasn’t played until mid March. In an incredible change of fortunes the final 9 games yielded only 2 further points. Only Old Bromleians losing their final game saved the team from relegation. Following victories against GAFLAC 4-0, Witan 5-2, City Of London Poly 3-0, Clapham Old Xavarians 2-1, Old Broms had their revenge in the final of the AFA Surrey Senior Cup when a last minute penalty for handball sent Carshalton to a 2-1 defeat.
However, this was a season when the lower sides hogged the plaudits as 3s reached the semi finals of the AFA Junior Cup, the 6s and 7s both won their leagues and the 5s and 8s won their divisions.

These end of season finishes meant that the Club now ran 6 out of its 8 sides in their respective first divisions and it can be concluded that the overall playing strength was better than at any time previously in the Club’s history.
