Despite earning an average of 1 point per game and scoring and conceding 1.5 goals a game, Carshalton finished in their highest placing in the SAL for 25 years. Under their abrasive Scottish manager, Roy MacIntosh, the team reached the quarter finals of the AFA Senior Cup with victories against Broomfield 2-0, Bourneside Sports 2-1, Brentham 1-0 and Bank of England 5-0 taking them through to face Latymer Old Boys to whom they lost 1-3.

The 2s finally managed to claw their way out of Division 3 under the captaincy of Cliff Richards with a record of:

and skipper Jim Finn wrote himself into Carshalton folklore. During the 5 seasons in which Jim led the side, they had won Division 2, Division 1 twice and been to 2 AFA Junior Novets Cup finals, winning at the second attempt – a remarkable record at that level.

In their first season of league football the 9s finished 8th in Division 2. Once again the Vets secured silverware for the Club, winning the Lloyds Bank AFC Veterans Annual tournament trophy for the 3rd time in 4 years.
