Carshalton FC U13s Team History

Season 2000/2001

Merton Juniors Football Club was formed in 2000 by Gary Johnson, and started as Merton Wasps Under 10's playing on Saturday mornings in the Epsom and Ewell Youth League during the season 2000/2001. The team finished 4th of 10 in Division 2, and reached the quarter-finals of the Surrey Youth Cup.

The team played at London Playing Fields, Links Avenue, Merton in black and yellow striped shirts, black shorts, and yellow socks. The team members were: David Church(now Worcester Park), Adam Marie, Leon Brown (now Merton Vultures), Ross Bradley, Daniel Johnson (captain), Sean Brenya (now Hanworth Eagles), Louis Barron-Pell, Jack Malin and Lewis West. The player of the season was Daniel Johnson, and the top scorer with 31 goals was Louis Barron-Pell.

Season 2001/2002

The following season the team was affiliated to Corinthian Casuals Football Club and played under their banner as Corinthian Casuals Under 11's on Sunday mornings in the West Surrey Youth League. The team finished 3rd of 10 in Division 1, and won the West Surrey Youth League Silver Plate by defeating the divisional champions and Surrey Cup semi-finalists, Junior Eagles.

The team played at St Georges Playing Fields, Tolworth and Beddington Park, Beddington in chocolate and pink quartered shirts, blue shorts, and blue socks.The team members were: Stuart Reddington, Adam Marie, Lewis West, Jonathan Kehoe (captain),Ross Bradley, Eddie Lyne, Jamie Streat, Daniel Johnson, Louis Barron-Pell, Jack Malin and Craig Stanley. The following players also represented the team, but are no longer with the club: Ben Bruton, Joe Firmager, Stephen Newman, Jack Brown, Simon Day and William Mann. The player of the season was Jonathan Kehoe, and the top scorer with 28 goals was Louis Barron-Pell.

Season 2002/2003

This season the team remained in Division 1 of the West Surrey Youth League, but affiliated to Carshalton FC of the Southern Amateur League playing under the name of Merton Juniors. The team finished 2nd of 13 and so won promotion as runners up, one point behind Hanworth Villa. In May 2003 the team were beaten finalists twice in one day, namely at the Farncombe Boys U12s Tournament and the Aldershot Town U12s Tournament. At Farncombe, the team reached the final without conceding a goal, but lost on penalties after a 0-0 draw against Hanworth Villa. At Aldershot, the team reached the final undefeated after conceding one goal, but lost on penalties to Carshalton Athletic B after another 0-0 draw. Merton won their first tournament at Wey Valley Youth, and then were beaten finalists in a strong tournament at Aldershot Boys FC.

The team played at Carshalton FC, Church Lane, Beddington Park, Beddington in chilli-red shirts, blue shorts, and blue socks.The team members were: Warren McCourt, Adam Marie, Lewis West, Ross Bradley, Jamie Streat, Daniel Johnson (Captain), Louis Barron-Pell, Jack Malin, Nicholas Holley and Julian Osei-Gyimah. The following players also represented the team, but are no longer with the club: Billy Kelly, Jonathan Kehoe, George King, Craig Stanley, Stuart Reddington, Eddie Lyne, Tshepho Sawdon and Sam Durban. The Manager's Player of the Season was Jack Malin, the Player's Player of the Season was Ross Bradley, and the top scorer with 32 goals was Craig Stanley.
