Presidential Address

Dear Members,

Well, we are now into the second month of our new season and I would firstly like to welcome all of our new members including our new youth teams, officers and parents.  Welcome back also to our older members.

I would also like to say a big thank you to all the Skippers who have put themselves forward this season (it's good to have some sanity back again).  Their job is vitally important not only on the field and at Selection, but also collecting match fees, annual subs and organising match reports.  It's great to have the support of the Tea Ladies with Barb and Emma back behind the bar.

The Club is once again is indebted to its General Committee, which this year welcomes back old faces in Rod Woolvin and Dennis Philpott and a new face in Tom Stoker.  Thanks also to Peter Stevenson who again will be collecting match fees.  There has been quite an encouraging start on the football front with all teams starting well.  Let's hope this continues.

Tracey Polley has continued to arrange club functions and it would be greatly appreciated if club members and their families can support these whenever possible.

The General Committee has decided to put a major emphasis on the issue of On Field Discipline this season.  Some of you may have already been on the receiving end of this, and we hope you have taken this seriously.  For those of you that are not familiar with this season's code of conduct, it is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with it via the website, so as there is no confusion as to what your Committee has put in place.

I also wish to make the usual annual plea for Subscriptions to be paid NOW.  This Club can not survive on fresh air.  Anybody who hasn't paid by the 15th November will not be eligible for selection.  No pay, no play.  This is not an idle threat.  The Committee has given everybody ample time to pay and if necessary we will reduce the number of sides that we run from this date.  The SAL have been informed of this possible eventuality.  Anyone paying after this date will be eligible for selection, but remember that the subs rise from £65 to £80 after this date, as voted in by the membership at the AGM.

Finally and on a happier note I would like to acknowledge on behalf of the Club the efforts Anne Backers has made in raising funds for John Gale - quite unbelievable - and we look forward to seeing John back at the Club on Old Sweats Day.

Enjoy your Football and have fun.
