Club Secretary & Social Secretary Tracey Polley's Plea to Club Members

Dear Members,

I thought I’d write to the membership as Club Secretary, Social Secretary and Club member.

Firstly in my guise as Club Secretary I’d like to raise a few points regarding Club Finance.

  1. Match Fees and Annual Subscriptions (even when paid by everyone in full and on time) are not sufficient to cover our running expenses.  We need to minimise our expenditure, especially this season with so many outgoings on Security, roof repairs and ground maintenance.
  2. Clubhouse Cleaning - can all Club members please bring their glasses (and any other empties you can find) back to the bar on Saturday evening.  Unfortunately I, along with Rod and Dennis had to spend a lot of time clearing up on Saturday night, and it should not be down to these people every week.  Please help your Club, otherwise we will need to look at paying to have the clubhouse clean up after Saturday nights.  As pointed out previously, we need to minimise our expenditure and you can all help by collecting a few glasses and putting your rubbish in the bins.
  3. The goalposts must be put away correctly.  They must be locked and this is the responsibility of the last team to put their posts away.  Remember if these go missing or get vandalised, it costs the club a small fortune to replace.

Now as Social Secretary

As I’ve said, we do not generate enough funds from Annual Subs and Match Fees to survive – we rely heavily on bar revenue (and nearly all of you are contributing towards this generously!).  The other significant fund raising opportunities are our Social Events, which I am responsible for organising.  Let’s see some more faces at these events.  They are there for YOUR enjoyment, for YOU to invite family and friends, for YOU to socialise with other Club members and to raise funds for YOUR Club.  We can’t do this without YOU.  The consequence of not supporting these is that the Annual Subs will have to rise significantly next season and I’ll just stop banging my head off the wall!

Now as a Club Member...

Our youth teams are playing a very high standard of football and could really do with more supporters from the senior club.  2 of the sides are through to the last 16 of the Surrey Cup.  If you can spare time on a Sunday morning, why not come over and enjoy watching the future of the Club.  The bar is open for a lunch time drink.

And finally (and most importantly) I’d like to thank all those in office who dedicate so much of their time to running this Club.  I’d also like to thank the non officers of the Club who are considerate and help the smooth operation of the Club – your co-operation is very much appreciated.  And I’d also like to implore anyone who could give a bit more to do so.  Just help out your fellow club members.  Enjoy the rest of your season and please help me to enjoy mine.
