1st July 2003 Annual General Meeting Carshalton Football Club's AGM was held on Tuesday 1st July at the Clubhouse. Here are the official minutes of the meeting. Apologies received from Graham Polley and Jake Jacobs. Minutes of the previous AGM were published on the web site immediately after the AGM, and were taken as agreed. Chairman's Report Adrian Turner was re-elected unopposed as Chairman (proposed by John Thoroughgood and seconded by Ian Wigham). In his address, Adrian stressed that on field Discipline would remain a top priority for the General Committee this coming season. Unfortunately our disciplinary record was poor again last season with too many inexcusable bookings for dissent. The Selection Policy was generally a success story, thanks to its implementation by the Team Secretary, Trevor Boughton. Financially, the Club can present a strong set of accounts for the season and this is largely due to improved financial controls and collection of annual subs (and of course bar revenue).

Treasurer's Report...
When asked about the rewiring costs, this was money set aside for work that had not yet been undertaken. Election of Officers During the Election of Officers, the Chairman thanked the previous officers for their hard work and dedication to the Club.
At this point, a change to Rule 3 was proposed by Dennis Philpott and seconded by John Thoroughgood - "The President when elected at the AGM shall server for no more than three consecutive years". This rule change was adopted. The positions of Vice Chairman, Social Secretary and Pavilion Manager have been dropped from the General Committee for this season. It was decided at the meeting the the appointment of captains would be left in the hands of the General Committee. Any Other Business Dennis Philpott introduced a new Rule 20 which formally incorporated the Youth Section into the main body of the Club. This was seconded by Rod Woolvin and carried unanimously. SAL regionalisation was discussed briefly. A word of warning regarding the the fate of Brentham FC, who have left the SAL this year. They had a 57 association with the SAL and it a warning to clubs like ourselves that we need volunteers to keep it going and to preserve our proud history. Discipline - extra action will be taken for any cautions or sendings off for dissent. The Committee will be following this up in the coming season. It was discussed that it requires strong skippers to enforce this and educate the players. The Committee will look into the suggestion that Committee members could mentor skippers to assist them in this task. Finally, new President Dennis Philpott stated that, as the Committee was fairly stable over the past 3 seasons, he expected that the focus would remain the same regarding prompt payment of subs and match fees, discipline, and selection policy. He acknowledged the award of Life Vice President to John Thoroughgood and Buzz Geddes, as well as the Carshalton Mug to Adrian Turner. He hopes to meet with Beddington CC in the near future to clear up some matters, and he hopes that the Youth Section can be formally welcomed by the new Committee to the Club. We wish all Club Officials the very best for this season and it is up to the Club members to support those who put their own time into the running of the Club Buzz |
