Relaid Pitch Taking Shape

As can be seen from these photos, the Club's recent investment in undersoil heating has borne real fruits with a much improved surface for Carshalton's players to perform on next season.  As part of new President Dennis Philpott's "Drive for Excellence", little expense has been spared in getting together the kind of facilities that even Southgate Olympic and Old Stationers would be proud of.  The Committee are hopeful that the rebuilding work will have completed by the start of the season, and that frozen pitches at Beddington Park will be a thing of the past.

April 2003 and the top soil is removed along with the Park Cafe and barbeque

July 2003 - New playing surface arrives along with the industrial ice tray ordered by Rod Woolvin, which can be seen being installed in the new beer cellar

July 2003 - the protective bubble wrap to work in tandem with the undersoil heating is slowly taking shape above the pitch.  When complete, this can be raised and lowered in 20 minutes using 350 local school children.  It is believed Carshalton FC are the first SAL Club to install both undersoil heating and an above pitch protective bubble.  Crouch End Vampires' underwater heated spring that keeps the pitch in such unique condition throughout the season is not classed as undersoil heating.

For more details of the plans for Beddington Park over the next few seasons, speak to Dennis and Graham "Mastermind" Radford.  They will of course deny everything!
