President's Report

As we approach the new season it is appropriate that, as your new President, I make a statement of the Club's objectives during the run up to what I wish to be a successful year.

I am pleased that a proportion of last year's Committee remain as officers, with John Thoroughgood becoming Secretary.  In addition, Adrian Turner is filling the post of Chairman for a final year, giving a continuation of the policies formulated during last season.  I am sure that the members joining the Committee for the first time will serve the Club as ably as their predecessors.

It is the Committee's intention to proceed with the rules introduced midway through last year to ensure a better disciplinary record and we will act promptly to enforce these changes.  I will support any action required to improve our on field performance, even if we have to reduce the number of teams that we run, or select weaker sides.

At the AGM the rules governing the Club were changed to formally include the Youth Section as part of the structure of Carshalton Football Club.  Two other additions were also included, which are...

  • that the President will still be elected yearly, but will not serve for more than three consecutive years
  • a limit of £60 be placed on all expenditure without General Committee permission

Subscriptions remain at the same level as last year and members should pay before the date to be set for the increase in payment.  Early subscription payment helps us to meet the financial obligations that are needed to start the season.  I will ask the Committee to enforce the No Pay No Play policy at the cut off date (15 November)

There are a number of improvements that the Club could benefit from.  There is a need for all members to help in looking after equipment (for instance, damaged net support through careless handling costs £80 to replace), respecting the property interior, and volunteering for working parties.  One such scheme is for each team to adopt a project.  For instance, the painting of a dressing room or corridor, removing graffiti, cleaning the showers, collecting rubbish in and around the pavilion, raising the funds to provide for such projects.  I await your offers
