The Club's top scorer for the past 2 seasons Michael Pickett scored his first goal for the 1s. Elsewhere the 2s beat Civil Service who had arrived at Beddington Park with a 100% record. The 3s lost at home to EBOGs. The 4s threw away a 1-0 lead with 7 minutes to go to lose in the SAL Cup at Nottsborough. The 5s had a creditable draw at Polytechnic and the 7s recorded their first league win at home to Merton. The Vets drew 4-4 at Blackheath Wanderers with Pete Culham scoring the equaliser with 5 minutes to go. All youth team games on Sunday were cancelled because of the relentless rain. 20 Nov 2003 - Surrey County FA Cup News - the 1st XI have been drawn at home to Milford & Witney in the Surrey County Intermediate Cup on Saturday 13th December. In the Surrey Youth Cups, U16s have been drawn at home to Carshalton Athletic and the U13s have been drawn at home to Epsom Eagles. Both games are scheduled to be played on Sunday 18th January. 16 Nov 2003 - Weekend Review - 1s completed a very comfortable win in the Surrey Intermediate Cup against weak opposition. Matt Wigham claimed 4 goals, but the consensus of opinion is that Dave Tilley's shot was over the line - so only 3 this week Matt. The 2s put 4 past Clapham Old Xavarians for the second time in 3 weeks to knock them out of the AFA Surrey cup as well as the AFA cup. The 3s lost narrowly in the SAL Cup at Parkonians, but the 4s got mullered at HSBC. No details as to what exactly went wrong there. The 5s had another fine result winning at Old Salesians. The 6s were unlucky not to come away with a result in North London when they lost by the only goal of the game at UCL Academicals in the AFA Cup. The 7s lost 0-3 at home, but made up for it by getting a 5 year old girl to finish off the washing up!! The Vets won 2-0 at the Chelsea Pensioners. On Sunday all 4 youth sides were at home. The U9s won impressively against Tooting & Mitcham in the league. In the Surrey Cup there were comfortable wins for the U13s and U16s against lower league opposition. No word yet of the U15s. 13 Nov 2003 - Sponsorship News - Carshalton FC are very pleased to announce a sponsorship deal for the under 9s with GSC Solicitors. This money has allowed us to improve the indoor training facilities used during the winter. We are very grateful for their generosity. Having gifted BB Eagles their opener in the first half, we squandered a number of chances before Jonathan Phillips cheeky chip from the edge of the box rescued a point late on. Neil Backers made a number of excellent saves when they broke through the defence, so a draw was probably a fair result - great entertainment. Plenty of goals on the 2nd team pitch as well, as the 2s knocked Old Esthameians out of the AFA Intermediate cup with a comprehensive 3-0 win. Ryan Polley's second was an absolute screamer. The 3s were on the wrong end of a 0-4 defeat, but it is a nice place to lose! The 4s had probably the result of the day by winning at Old Finchleians 4-0 with goals from James Greenslade, Tom Smith, Tyrone Knight and Elliott Stevens. Chris Wells is certainly someone doing enough to raise the attention of the higher skippers as he scored 5 past Merton in the 5s 6-3 home win. Goals from Danny Berry and Gilles Warrell gave the 6s a 2-2 draw at Lloyds, while the 7s picked up a point against Kew with a rare 0-0 scoreline. Bobby Horn turned back the years to net yet another hattrick for the Club as the Vets drew with Polytechnic. Pleasing to see the bar so busy this week. Looks like things are getting back to normal. On Sunday the U9s emerged victorious in the top of the table clash with Whitton Town - Arran Nurse scoring the only goal of the game. The U13s threw away a 2 goal lead to be knocked out of the WSYL Cup. The U15s had a welcome league win at Woking, so it looks like the training is paying off. The U16s are through to the semi finals of the WSYL Cup with a closer than expected 2-1 win over Carshalton Rangers. 5 Nov 2003 - Drill Tops - Carshalton FC drill tops, as modelled by the Youth Section this season, are available to all Club members, priced £20. In the Surrey Cup on 16 Nov., the U16s are at home to Roehampton AFC, the U15s home to Colliers Wood United and the U13s home to Rowledge. In the AFA Youth Cup, the U16s have been drawn at home to Potters Bar United on 30 Nov. 2 Nov 2003 - Weekend Review - the 1s secured their first league win of the season with a 3-1 triumph at Old Stationers. Shaun Swan scored twice from corners and young Jonathan Phillips scored on debut. Andy Cook and 2 goal hero Shaun Swan have contributed to the match report! The 2s lost narrowly at home to Bank of England. No details yet. The 5s lost 0-5 at Kew. The 6s drew with HSBC. No details yet. Do you get the picture? Come on skippers - phone your results in. The 7s won at Kew in the SAL Junior Novets Cup courtesy of a Jon Smith hattrick. The youth section had a Sunday to be proud of. Unfortunately the U15s game succumbed to the weather. The other teams were on their travels and the U9s and U13s picked up maximum points, while the U16s qualified for the second round of the AFA Youth Cup with an emphatic 12-0 win at Norsemen. Match reports are available for all these games.
