Summary
27 Jan 2004 -
Weekend Review - the 1s lost out by the only goal
of the game in extra time in their AFA Surrey Senior Cup
Quarter Final at Kew. An open goal was missed with
just seconds to go, but no names will be mentioned.
The 2s returned to form with a 6-0 thumping of Old
Latymerians. Tony Edwards moves into second place in
the goal scorers chart with another couple.
The 3s drew at Weirside Rangers to boost their battle
against relegation. The 4s also helped their
relegation fight with a 3-1 win over EBOG, though a few more
results like that are needed to reach safety.
The 5s game at Alleyn Old Boys was off due to a waterlogged
pitch. result of the day was the 6s who beat EBOG to
reach the SAL Cup Semi Final against Polytechnic on 14
Feb. Well done to Dave Jenvey and the boys - not one
of the team survives from the cup winning sides of the past
2 seasons. The 7s lost to Lloyds.
On Sunday, the U9s won more easily than the 2-1 scoreline
suggests to move into second place in Division 1. The
U13s had a remarkable 13-3 win to remain in first place in
the Premier Division, and the U15s had an excellent result
to Barnes Eagles to move further away from relegation.
U16s had no game, as the majority of the side was
representing the AFA.
18 Jan 2004 -
Weekend Review - the 1s marched on to the quarter
finals of the Surrey Intermediate Cup with a 2-1 win over
Continental Stars. They face a visit to the winner of
the Wilf Croucher / Tongham tie on 14th February. The
6s had a remarkable win at previously unbeaten Civil
Service, running out 4-2 winners - Dick Polley scored a
scorcher apparently! elsewhere, the 2s lost at home,
the 3s picked up a point sharing 6 goals with BB Eagles, the
4s lost at Civil Service (hampered by Jamie Fascione's
sending off after 15 minutes in his last ever game for the
Club). The 5s continued their impressive run with
another thumping win, this time 7-2 (anyone in this team
wanting to claim these goals should get Tony Knott to send
them in). The 7s were handed a double figure pasting
at H.S.B.C. and the Vets drew with Blackheath Wanderers.
On Sunday, the U9s returned to winning ways with a 4-0 win
at home to Camberley Boys, and the U16s progressed through
to the quarter final of the Surrey Cup after beating
Carshalton Athletic on penalties. The face a trip to
the winner of the Worcester Park Colts / AFC Ewell tie on
15th February. As soon as we have information on the
U13s and U15s games, we'll let you know.
The U15s early kick off was frozen off, and the result of
the U13s Surrey Cup game against Epsom Eagles will be
decided by the Surrey FA after the game was abandoned with 4
minutes to play. Exact details are not available at
this stage.

February. Old Dorkinians face Old Thorntinians in the
other semi final.
7 Jan 2004 -
Weekend Review - a very happy New Year to all Club
member, friends and fellow AFA and WSYL clubs. The 2s
progressed to the semi finals of the AFA Surrey Intermediate
Cup on Saturday with a 7-0 hammering of Old Tiffs. A
devastating 4 goal first half display finished the game as a
contest and some of the play was of a very high standard -
so there is pressure for 1st team places at last (as Matt
Wigham was also on the line). Simon Clare bagged a
hattrick and Neil Collard's two long range chips over the
keeper were quite exquisite. Skipper Tony Edwards
scored his 11th of the season and Alex Corner rounded off
the scoring.
The 3s had an excellent win at Old Westminster Citizens with
Steve Powell (2) and Jon Phillips both helping their chase
for the golden boot. The 4s drew 3-3 with Old
Actonians with goals from Michael Hammond, Jason Baker and
Tom Smith.
On Sunday, the U9s and U15s games were cancelled for
different reasons. The U13s remain top of the Premier
Division with a 6-3 win over Whyglaze Eagles and the U16s
thrashed Motspur Park 6-1 to replace them at the top of the
Premier Division.
