The Club is planning to visit our friends in Montreuil-Bellay on the Whitsun weekend, leaving Thursday evening 26th May and returning on the evening on Monday 31st May 2005.
The weekend consists of a civic reception, football matches on Saturday and Sunday, wine tasting, disco, and a banquet on the final evening. For those of you who haven't been before, it is a must. For those of you who have been, you'll know what is in store - excellent hospitality.
This year's trip will not be subsidised in any form by the Club. It has to be self financing. The cost is approximately £5000 for the trip - there are no accommodation costs and very little money is spent once you get there. Our hosts are extraordinarily generous of spirit as well as refusing to let us pay for anything.
Until we know numbers, we can't finalise costs. But if we fill the coach with 50 people the cost is obviously around £100. If 30 travel, the costs rise to approximately £170.
John Thoroughgood is co-ordinating the organisation of the trip. Please contact John as soon as possible to reserve a place. Money will have to be paid up front. If we have insufficient numbers by the end of January, the trip will not go ahead. We need a minimum of 30 people committed by the end of January with deposits paid.
