News Summary

23 Mar 2005 - Norlands Foundation Award - Carshalton Football Club and Beddington Cricket Club are pleased to announce that they have secured funding from the Norlands Foundation, which will be used to make improvements to the clubhouse over then next 12 months.  The first phase of the project will involve replacing the roof, addressing the state of the building electrics, improving building security, replacing windows with double glazing, clearance of the tractor cellar area and replacement of the upstairs ceiling.

Any club members who would like to volunteer to assist on this project should contact their Club officials. This project is the first being undertaken by the Management Committee set up by BCC and CFC last year to jointly secure funding and manage the maintenance of the clubhouse and grounds.  It is a significant step in improving facilities for both clubs as part of the Clubs' Development Plans

21 Mar 2005 - Barclays Award Presentation - on Sunday 10 April the Club is being presented with the Barclays Spaces for Sports award by Barclays Management and local MP Tom Brake.  All youth section teams will be required to attend in full kit for this photo opportunity.  Presentation is scheduled to take place at 9.45am.
21 Mar 2005 - Weekend Review - Neal Collard's 5th minute opener looked to be enough to earn the 2s a win over Bromleian Sports of the Kent league in a friendly in the park, but skipper Chris Tilley put through his own net with 15 minutes to go.

The 3s secured an immediate return to Division 2 with a 2-1 win at Old Lyonians.  Congratulations to Tony Knott and his side.  Hopefully we will see these players progressing to the top 2 sides next season.  The 4s had a selection nightmare and ended with only 8 players.  they went down 1-4 to top of the league Old Westminster Citizens.  The 5s had a game to forget for all the wrong reasons.  The 6s duly crushed bottom of the league Lloyds TSB Bank 6-1 and the 2 goals that Rob Morley scored takes him to the lead in the race for the Golden Boot with 21.

At Polytechnic both the 7s and Vets won 5-1 - the 7s playing throughout with 10 men and the Vets being reduced to 10 men through injury after half an hour - maybe we should adopt a 10 man selection policy next season?

On Sunday the U13s climbed into the top half of the table with an excellent 4-1 win at Feltham Wanderers

21 Mar 2005 - AFA Open Veterans Final - congratulations to Port of London Authority Vets on winning the AFA Open Veterans Cup after a 5-1 win over Frenford Vets at Beddington Park on Saturday.
13 Mar 2005 - Weekend Review - the 1s never do well immediately after the Club Dinner, but Saturday's result was particularly disappointing.  A 1-4 defeat at HSBC was a surprise, especially given the recent run of excellent results.  One to forget.

The 2s won an eventful game 3-1 over Alexandra Park with the pick of  the goals being a direct free kick by Mark Raven to keep their promotion hopes alive.  The 3s lost 1-2 after extra time in their SAL Cup semi final and the 4s were whipped 0-5 at Kew Association.  Back at Beddington, the 5s drew in the park with HSBC (a game in which Dave Paterson justified his Lifetime Achievement Prick of the Year award at the Club Dinner by giving away their goal, missing an open goal and missing a penalty!!).  Rob Morley's hattrick sent him to second place in the Golden Boot competition as the 6s drew to within a point of the 5s with a 4-1 win over Bank of England 4s.

The 7s drew 2-2 at Old Wilsonians with goals from Jon Smith and one for Rick Morris to take him to the top of the Golden Boot competition.  The Vets lost 0-1 against a very strong Nat West Bank side.

On Sunday the U13s lost 0-1 at home to Hampton Youth in a very close game , while the U10s won their last game of the season, inflicting only the second defeat of the season on last year's champions Ashford Town.

13 Mar 2005 - Club Dinner - another fantastic evening's entertainment.  Huge thanks to those involved in organising and running the event.  Andy Walter supplied a great dinner, Andy's "babes" served us superbly, Dick Stoker organised the speakers (Dick himself, Andy Cook and Mike Tier), Maria worked tirelessly behind the bar, and Matt Wigham for organising attendees and payment. Approximately 80 in attendance, which showed what a Club like ours is all about
10 Mar 2005 - Simon & Mel Clare - congratulations to Mr & Mrs Clare on the announcement that Mel is expecting their first child.  Simon has asked for suggestions for the child's name to be sent to the Club at carshaltonfc@hotmail.com.  Early favourites are Cruz, Purley (where the conception took place), Buzz and Keith if it's a boy and Claire if its a girl.  Another suggestion is simply E.
8 Mar 2005 - Cancer Research - we have received a note of thanks from Archbishop Tennisons School 6th Form to thank us for providing free facilities for their fund raising function last Friday which raised £650 for Cancer Research and The Royal Marsden.
6 Mar 2005 - Weekend Review - congratulations to Ian Lewis and his boys for reaching the AFA Surrey & Kent Intermediate Cup Final with their win at Bank of England on Saturday.  A goal from Alex Corner and a first hat-trick in Carshalton colours for Shane Bowes gave them the win.  They will play Old Addeyans 1s on Saturday 2nd April at Lloyds TSB Bank's ground in Beckenham, after the Kent outfit beat Royal Sun Alliance in the other semi final.  Manager Ian Lewis and skipper Chris Tilley would like to thank all those who travelled across to Roehampton and whose excellent support lifted the team and was greatly appreciated.

The 3s won at South Bank CUACO with 2 goals from Chris Wells.  Good luck to Tony Knott and his 3s in their SAL Cup semi final at H.S.B.C. this coming Saturday.

The 4s banged in 3 quick first half goals to settle the result of their game on the 1st team pitch against Merton.  It could have finished with both teams in double figures - great to watch.  The 5s won 3-1 at bottom of the table Lloyds TSB Bank take them into 4th place.  The 7s drew 2-2 in the park against top of the table Lloyds TSB Bank 8s.  The Vets somehow contrived to only draw with Old Pastovians with Chris Hithersay scoring the equaliser after Shaggy's free kick came back off the post.

On Sunday the U16s lost their last league game of the season, while the U13s had an excellent 7-0 win over Corinthian Casuals.
