11th March 2005 - Club Dinner
The 2005 Carshalton Football Club Dinner proved to be another fantastic evening's entertainment. the event was held at the Beddington Park pavilion. Huge thanks to those involved in organising and running the event. Andy Walter supplied a great dinner, Andy's "tasty chicks" served us superbly, Dick Stoker organised the speakers (Dick himself, Andy Cook and Mike Tier from Lloyds), Maria worked tirelessly behind the bar, and Matt Wigham for organising attendees and payment. Over 80 in attendance, which shows what a Club like ours is all about. Here are a few photos of the evening (which was followed the next day by the 1s' 5 match winning streak ending in dramatic style - 1-4 at H.S.B.C.)!
Excitement builds as the Dinner approaches and members and guests mingle in a frantic frenzy at the bar, determined to swallow as much alcohol as quickly as possible. Pictured on the left are members of Beddington Cricket Club, in the foreground covering his pint from John Thoroughgood's spittle is Paul Coppin, one time leading light of the Club's youth policy, but now a sad shell of a man who expressed an interest in making a comeback (how much had he drunk?). Also facing the camera are Andy Cook (pretending to be listening intently to the 1st team squad and John Thoroughgood, modelling his latest "no nonsense" skinhead. The ginger with his back to the camera is Kevin MacLeod, while Shaun Swan on the right looks like he was struggling to keep up with the conversations even this early in the evening
"Without whom none of this would have been possible." Head chef Andy Walter employs 2 of his "tasty chicks" to subdue the starter. This was Andy's first time catering for the Club Dinner and he did a wonderful job (at an unbelievable price as well). The menu consisted of prawn cocktail starter, Boeuf Bourguignon with boiled potatoes, carrots and peas, followed by apple pie and cream, with cheese and biscuits. Well done mate. A fantastic effort, fully appreciated by all who were there.
Dave Paterson (right) receives his Prick of the Year award for "a lifetime achievement of prickery" from Club Captain Andy Cook. The following day, "Pongo" took this award too seriously and was at fault for the oppo's goal, missed an open goal himself and then missed a penalty!! Stunning.
Below is a facial of the man himself.
