News Summary

20 Apr 2005 - AFA Referees Association Hospitality Award - Carshalton FC have won the AFA Referees Association Hospitality Award for the 2004/05 season.  This recognises the Club's policy for hospitality before and after the game - no matter what happens during the game!  The Committee would like to thank the skippers and Old Gits who make sure the refs are involved in conversations and bought a pint or two.

18 Apr 2005 - Summer Cricket Match & BBQ Fund Raiser - the Club has organised a cricket match in the picturesque Surrey village of Outwood (near Godstone).  Please contact Club Captain Andy Cook through carshaltonfc@hotmail.com if you want to play or just come along for the BBQ and drinks till late.  If we get enough numbers, we'll organise a bus.  The game is scheduled for Sunday 26 June.  Come along and meet Club members during the close season.
18 Apr 2005 - Weekend Review - the 1s season continues to fizzle out with defeat at Old Lyonians.  The 2s also lost to promoted Civil Service, while the 4s turned over Civil Service 6s at their place and the 5s also got amongst the goals (including a penalty from keeper and skipper Andy Walter - the bar emptied very quickly).  The 7s lost to Poly and the Vets lost out to an accomplished Old Grammarians 0-2.

Only 3 more fixtures remaining, 2 for the 1s and 1 for the 2s.  All other team have completed their seasons.  The 1s and 2s will finish mid-table, the 3s got promoted to Division 2, the 4s finished 4th in Division 2, the 5s finished 4th in Division 4, the 6s 5th in Division 4 and the 7s mid-table in Division 6.

The U13s completed the final fixture for the Youth Section with a 1-1 draw with Sheen Lions.

18 Apr 2005 - Marathon Man - many congratulations to James Harrison who completed his first every marathon in Sunday's London Marathon in 4 hrs 30 minutes, raising money for his chosen charity - the Mental Health Foundation.  How come he can't run for 90 minutes on a Saturday then?>
12 Apr 2005 - U14s Trials - Carshalton FC 2005/06 U14s trials will be held at 10am on Sunday 8 & 15 May at Clubhouse in Beddington Park.  NEW PLAYERS REQUIRED.  Contact the Club at carshaltonfc@hotmail.com
9 Apr 2005 - Youth Section Presentation Evening - Carshalton FC held it's Youth Section presentation evening on 9th April at the Clubhouse, where all boys who donned the green and white this season were rewarded with medals and trophies presented by Rod Woolvin.  Rod spoke of his admiration for the level of discipline and behaviour on the pitch, and thanked the parents for their support of the boys and the Club.
5 Apr 2005 - Mick O'Leary - it is with regret that we heard of the sudden death of former Club member Mick O'Leary last Tuesday (29th March).  Mick played for the 1st team in the early 80s.  He was 53.  The Club sends it's sympathies and best wishes to Mick's family at this time.
5 Apr 2005 - Weekend Review - the 2s were beaten 1-4 by Old Addeyans in the AFA Surrey & Kent Intermediate Cup final on Saturday.  Addeyens proved too strong physically for our young side and deserved their win.  Still a fine achievement by Ian Lewis' lads to win runners up medals.

Back at Beddington Park, it was Old Sweats Day as many former players gathered to reminisce on former glories and to tell tall tales!  On the pitches, the 5s hammered Bank of England with the goals being shared around.  Shevi got the first, but later struggled with "whiplash" following an "attempted headbutt on the back of my head".  Phrases such as "tart", "prima dona" and "drama queen" were directed at him by his team mates in the bar.  The 6s completed their season with a fine 3-2 win over Old Lyonians (the game being switched to Beddington Park).  Rob Morley scored another to take him to 22 goals for the season, still 2 ahead of Rick Morris of the 7s.  The 7s came back twice to draw 2-2 with Bank of England.  thanks to the small band of their team who did the teas - as usual Joe and Pete.  Where were the others?  The Vets lost 2-4 to a strong Maori side with late goals costing them dear.

On Sunday the U13s lost 1-2 to Epsom Dynamos.
