2005/06 Season News Item...

March 2006

News Summary

28 Mar 2006 - Training  - Training will officially finish on Thursday 6th April.  Well done to the lads who have attended.  Numbers have generally been good.

Thanks to Dave Jenvey for co-ordinating training this season and to Luke Boughton and Mark Raven for assistance.  It would appear that all attendees enjoyed it and got a lot out of it, both on the playing and social side.  hopefully we will see an even bigger uptake next season as word spreads
23 Mar 2006 - Club Dinner Cancelled  - it is with regret that the Committee has decided to cancel this season's Club Dinner.
18 Mar 2006 - Top Scorer  - with just a few games to go, congratulations go to 16 year old Andy Bitmead, a product of the Club's Youth Section, who has now registered 30 goals for the 8s, including a hattrick on Saturday.
13 Mar 2006 - Youth Section Cup Finals  - the U10s will play Worcester Park Colts in the West Surrey Youth League Invitational Cup final at Cobham FC on Sunday 7 May with a 12 noon kick off.

The U11s face Tooting & Mitcham in the West Surrey Youth League Cup final at the Met Police ground, Imber Court on Sunday 23 April with a 10.30am kick off.

We wish both teams good luck and hope that Club members will come out and support the youth of the Club on their big days.
9 Mar 2006 - Weekend Review  - the 1s promotion hopes were dealt a severe blow losing 5-6 at bottom of the table Old Finchleians.  2-0 up and cruising for the first half hour, then we hit the self destruct button again.  Conceded 5 in the next 30 mins either side of half time.  Then started playing again and gave them a fright near the end.

Despite Steve Powell's 89th minute equaliser, the 2s lost a five-goal thriller at St. Mary's when they conceded a goal in the dying seconds against Weirside Rangers.  The 3s drew with West Wickham and the 4s just failed in their bid to reach the final of the SAL Minor Cup.  They went down 2-3 after extra time at Old Owens.  So despite our sides reaching 4 semi finals, none managed to get through to a final.

Better news lower down the teams with the 5s cruising to an 8-0 win over 9 men to remain in second place, the 6s also keeping up with the promotion race with a 3-2 win over top of the table Old Actonians, the 7s lost at BB Eagles, while the 8s also beat a top of the table Old Actonians side to remain in the hunt for promotion.  The Vets drew 2-2 with Old Pastonians - another excellent match report from The Norm - this one of biblical proportions!

On Sunday the U8s drew 1-1 with second in the table Staines Town Juniors, the U10s beat top of the table Sutton United 4-1, the U11s lost in a disappointing game at AFC Wimbledon and the U14s remain top of the table with a close 2-1 win over third placed Raynes Park Sports.
