AFA Surrey / Kent Cup Final 2006

The AFA Surrey / Kent Cup Final was staged at Beddington Park home of Carshalton FC on 25 March 2006.  Watched by a significant number of supporters from both clubs plus a number of Carshalton FC members, the game between Old Salesians and Clapham Old Xavarians was a disappointing one from the neutral's point of view.  Chances were at a premium in a game in which both teams seemed more concerned with not losing than winning.  Nerves were obviously playing a major part.

The game finished 0-0 after 90 minutes and with penalties seeming ever more likely, the game turned on the sending off of an Old Salesians player for retaliation in the second half of extra time.  Two quick goals followed from Clapham Old Xavarians and the cup was theirs.

Congratulations go to Clapham and commiserations to Old Salesians who never quite showed their expected quality.  We hope both teams enjoyed their day, and congratulate both sets of players and supporters for their behaviour after the game - particularly in the bar!!
