2005/06 Season News Item...

April 2006

News Summary

28 Apr 2006 - AFA Referees Association Hospitality Award - Carshalton FC have won this award for an unprecedented 3rd time in 4 years.  This is a remarkable achievement and the Committee thanks everyone who contributed to this achievement - the skippers, the players and the Old Gits in the corner - particularly Rod Woolvin, who ensures the referees are looked after as soon as they arrive at Beddington Park.  A Club official will be presented with the award at the association's annual dinner on Friday 5 May and we hope to have photos of the event on the web site.
5 Apr 2006 - Weekend Review - the 2s took pride of place after the 1s game at Ibis was called off for the second time this season.  And they produced an excellent result in beating promotion hopefuls Old Salesians 4-2.  The 3s lost their final fixture of the season at already promoted Old Esthameians.  The 4s finished off their league programme by defeating Old Westminster Citizens, thereby securing a place in the top half of the table - a remarkable turn of events having had such a poor start.  The 5s and 6s contested an incident packed "derby", which ended 2-2, a result that probably did neither side any favours in their promotion challenges - certainly there can be no accusations of "fix"!!  The 7s game with HSBC 8s has been postponed to Tuesday 11 April at Beddington Park.  The 8s finished their campaign with a 1-1 draw at Kew Association 8s.

On Sunday there were mixed fortunes.  The U8s and U11s finished on the wrong side of 1-6 scorelines.  However the U14s took a decisive step to the Premier North title with a 5-2 win over Cobham FC.  Blustery conditions made for a difficult first half, but the boys now need only 1 more win from their remaining 2 games to secure the title.

Congratulations to the U10s who secured the Division 1 South title with a decisive 5-1 win at runner up Sutton United.  They finish with a record of

On top of this they are in the WSYL Invitational Cup final on 7 May.  Well done to Terry Vinson, Andy Miller and the boys on this achievement.
