Winchmore Hill

1

Carshalton 2nd XI

4 Stuart Dunne, Ryan Polley 2, and someone from the penalty spot

SAL - 7th December 2002

We’re back in North London playing Winchmore Hill, which was going to be a tough game considering we hammered them 4-1 at home.  They were out for revenge.  Over the last 3 weeks our form had nose dived but today, we were on top of our game, with our passing and movement the best so far this season.  Defensively solid with the back four winning virtually every thing and Ross making 3 or 4 wonder saves from long range efforts.

The midfield were fluent going forward and helping out defending and the attackers were always looking deadly as it proved.  The first 20 minutes were very even as we both passed the ball but we conceded first, which made us step up a gear.  Within 5 minutes we were level with a sweeping move started from the back ending up with Stuart Dunne scoring a volley, which was the goal of the game.

In the second half we went looking for the winner, which came from the boot of Ryan Polley who was guilty of the miss of the game from the ball of game.  James Harrison crossed a superb 40 yards ball to Ryan who headed wide of an open goal from six yards out (usually a Jason speciality).  In the space of a minute we made it 3-1 from the spot and then Ryan scored his second of the game for a 4 – 1 thrashing.

We’ve done the double over Winchmore who are no walk-over.  If we maintain this form and continue our unbeaten league run who knows what the end of the season will hold.

A game played from the 2’s hearts.
