South Bank CUACO

2

Carshalton 2nd XI

3  Stuart Dunne 2, Ryan Polley

SAL - 18th January 2003

Could we maintain our league form?  If you were at the game, you would have said NO.  With 20 minutes to go we were 2 down and looking dead and buried.  Tony made a tactical change to a 3-5-2 and pushing man of the match Stuart Dunne to just behind the front two.

Due to Ryan turning up late (half hour) we just arrived in time for kick off so we had no preparation time at all. Thanks Ryan.  We were awful, our passing was very sloppy and we didn’t seem hungry enough to want the ball or win the game.

At half time we were one down.  The second half started in similar fashion and we went two down and with 20 minutes to go substitutions were made (yes including me) and something happened.  Deano put through a beautiful 5 yard pass between the 2 defenders to Stuart Dunne who lobbed the keeper to score from twenty yards.

10 minutes left and suddenly we sprung into life.  With South Bank just holding on, Mr Dunne does it with 5 minutes to go to level the game at 2-2 with a glorious header.  We were looking at it as a point gained due to the way we were playing.  Injury time was being played, when Paul Pearce was let loose, one on one with the keeper and he squared it to Ryan Polley to net the winner.

We were lucky, but this sort of result will help our push for promotion and winning the title.

Local derby next week and we better find our form quickly.
