Bank Of England

2

Carshalton 3rd XI

1 Jonathan Phillips

SAL – 21 December 2002

Bank of England avenged an earlier season 3-1 reversal at Beddington Park by pipping us 2-1 in this tight 3s match.  Unfortunately that's two league defeats in a row for the 3s and a promising season could see the wheels fall off if we don't pick up a decent result at home to BB Eagles on 4th Jan.  The defeat at Bank of England (fantastic facilities by the way) was not for want of effort.

Unfortunately we didn't manage to score when we deserved to in the first 25 minutes and conceded two sloppy goals either side of half time.  Injuries to both wide men (Gareth Banton and Jonathan Phillips) in the second half meant we struggled to up our game and put the home side under serious pressure until the last 15 minutes.  When we did up the tempo we were rewarded.  Jonathan Phillips netted from 20 yards and Gary Cummings twice came close to a deserved equaliser.

Bank of England also had chances though and Dave Aldridge picks up the man of the match award for two one-on-one stops.  The division is so tight that a run of three or four wins would put us in contention for promotion.  Let's hope we can start that run this Saturday.
