BB Eagles

1

Carshalton 3rd XI

2 Own goal, Tony Edwards

SAL – 8 February 2003

Appalling pitch, massive hangover, fantastic result!  At last having lost 4 league games on the spin the 3rd XI fought all the way on a dreadful pitch to claim all 3 points against high flying BB Eagles at Gunnersbury Park.  Man of the match Alex Booker was superb.  Unfortunately he choose this game to shine and the predatory Tony Edwards (not in the goal getting sense) has snaffled him into the 2nd XI.  Tony playing a rare match for the 3s was in fact the match winner.

Having at last evaded the home side's off side trap, he rounded the keeper to make it 2-1 late in the first half.  Carshalton had earlier been ahead through an own goal via a rebound from a BB Eagles knee following a Dave Robins corner (he was desperately trying to claim the goal afterwards).

BB Eagles later equalised following a nifty turn by a forward (Matt Huffer left for dead) and a flighted cross which was headed home.

Some strong notable performances; a strong debut for John Hill at right back and some sterling defensive work by Trevor and Dick.  James Chambers also added some young legs and lungs in front of the back four.

This week its Lloyds TSB Bank away.  A win puts us back in the promotion shake up.
