SAL Division 2 - 22nd October 2005
For the boys in green 3 wins a row were just around the corner. Saturday's opponents were Old Latymerians who were looking for their first win of the season. Carshalton named a full strength team for the third successive week.
The whistle went and Carshalton were playing the ball around the park very well, creating a hatful of chances. The best of these fell to John Taylor who hit a first time shot miles wide. Chances came and went and the score remained 0-0 until Chris Thompson scored a rocket of a goal into the top of the net. The collapse started to begin when Jack Goodman crossed for John Taylor to flick on at the near post and into the back of the net 2-0.
The score at half time was 4-0. The gaffer made a change and stuck John Hall upfront with John Taylor and Jack Goodman dropped into midfield. It wasn’t long before it was 5-0 through Jack Goodman with a thumping right foot shot onto the post and into the back of the net.
Old Latymerians then scored a goal the score became 5-1 but the game was already lost. They then got a penalty for handball but the result was it was hit miles over. Then the most controversial goal of the season happened. The goalkeeper for Old Latymerians had gone up for a corner. The corner was cleared and it cleared the whole defence and fell to John Taylor. Calls of offside were echoing all around the park but this did not disturb John Taylor who ran the ball all the way into the goal.
To round off the game John Hall out-muscled the goalkeeper to his disgust and smashed the ball into the back of the net for his first goal for the Club.
Carshalton now move up to second in the league above Bank of England.
