SAL Division 2 – 29th October 2005
Another solid performance saw us gain our third victory in a row away to a strong Polytechnic side who are third in the league. The first half started evenly with both sides creating chances. Good defending by Earle Davis and Tom Prowse proved too much for their strikers in the first half. Our opener came after a mix up between their defence which left John Harris free to place the ball in to an empty net. Tireless work in midfield from Tom and Dave and some very odd passes from Mr Wilkinson ensured we went in a goal to the good at half time.
Poly's equaliser came about ten minutes in to the second half - a lack of concentration yet again being our undoing. However we picked ourselves up again and began to create chances. A treble substitution seemed to give us the lift we needed and after a careless tackle we were awarded a penalty. John Harris duly obliged.
There were some good performances all round, Kirk returned from his winter break after seeing his Mummy and slotted in well at right back after coming on as sub and Chris French appears to have found some aggression to add to his game although he's still the biggest hypochondriac I've ever met.
A few more wins before Xmas and we may give ourselves a chance of winning a trophy this season.
P.S. Would the thief who had my Armani gloves away in the changing room please bring them next week.
