SAL Division 2 – 14th January 2006

After a disappoint defeat last week at the hands of Polytechnic we were looking for a strong performance this week, and that’s exactly what we got.  On a dodgy pitch in the park we started brightly. Their central midfielders couldn’t get into the game as Tom and Dave were winning the 50-50s and just generally out classing them.  Nothing was getting past our back four with Tom Prowse having his best game this season.

The first goal came after Ty crossed from the right and their defenders failed to clear the ball and it fell to the feet Johnny Harris and he finished coolly.  We continued to boss the game and the second goal was another excellent finish from Johnny Harris, shooting from 20 yards into the top corner.

At the beginning of the second half everyone just lost their concentration for a second and got caught out with a long straight ball over the top, which they scored from.

With the score 2-1 we started lose our way a bit, but then once Tom Ritchie scored direct from a corner then we started to control the game once again. Then Michael Pickett scored the fourth from close range.

We were just carving them at will with our 1 – 2 touch football.

Man of the match was Tom Prowse. He was solid at the back all game, winning all headers and tackles.
