SAL Division 2 - 18th November 2006

On a wonderful sunny day we got off to a great start.  Dave Robins set up Andrew F from a corner kick to header home at the start.  Ibis had a chance to level things up a few minutes later but the ball whizzed across the goal line.  Dave Robins scored the second from another corner that Ryan curled in to the front post and Daniel Hewitt got on the score sheet from another after they couldn't quite clear their lines. 3-0 at half time and we wanted more, which is good.

The lads from Ibis rolled up their sleeves and fought well but couldn't deal with the quality of our left and right wings. The rest was like lambs to the slaughter.  Carshalton 4s were outstanding on the day and finished the game with a hat-trick from Ryan Polley who ran riot down the left wing.  Chewitt got a second after Mark Locke took a quick free-kick from the corner of the box and Robins got a brace direct from a corner.  I'm still in shock that "Zimmer" Robins has scored 3 before Christmas.

They did get a goal with 5 minutes to go but the game was over long before.  The work-rate was good but we still need to work on fitness.  (TRAINING IS ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS)  Most goals came from set pieces and Michael Gibson had a hand in most with some excellent long throws (man of the match).  This young chap will only get better in time and I would expect to see him in our 2s or 3s next season.

The game was superbly handled by the ref.  Bit late turning up but well worth the wait!  A great result considering we were missing 3 of our most gifted players. Michael Pickett injured at power league.  James Chambers (asleep) and Tom Lawler (missing in action).  We hope all return for the cup game in North London next week.
