SAL Division 2 - 10th March 2007
After a recent run of terrible results, including a humiliating thrashing last time out, we desperately needed to put in a performance and get a win.
Basically, we did. There were brilliant performances all over the team, with nobody having a bad game. All members of the team worked hard and battled for the whole 90 mins, whilst playing some great football in patches throughout the game.
After dominating the first 20 mins, we went 1-0 up when I rose majestically at the far post to head home Ryan Polley's corner. It was my first goal in three years of playing for Carshalton so was met with some shock around the team. I did hear a few people questioning what I was even doing I their area, the truth being that I was lost.
Despite a great effort not to, we managed to give up our lead just before half time when Danny Hewitt appeared to be pushed off the ball in our area, and their striker finished from 2 yards out.
The second half a real battle with strong tackles going in all over the place. We managed to come out on top with James Harrison and Andy Bitmead scoring to give us a 3-1 win. This is despite us missing a penalty. (If anybody sees Andy Bitmead walking towards a penalty spot with a ball under his arm again, please take him out).
Great hard working performances all over the team with special mention to Ryan Polley for a good first half performance up front, and a solid second half as emergency left back, and man of the match to James Harrison for tackling hard and closing down their midfield all game.
Ben Docherty
