Carshalton 5s

4 Michael Pickett, John Harris, Dave Fenton, Matt Dudley

SAL Division 4 - 17th September 2005

The first game of the season and an interesting fixture away to Old Salesians - never an easy place to get a result. Cars started brightly and gradually started to dominate the game.  It was no surprise when Michael Pickett opened his account with a goal on 20 minutes after good work in midfield from Dave "loves a big bird" Fenton.

John Harris making his debut for the club then made it 2-0 with a well taken finish five minutes later.  A great move down the left hand side involving Paul Bourke, Chris French and John Harris saw a clinical finish at the far post from Dave Fenton to make it 3-0.

Old Salesians pulled one back before half time after being awarded a penalty.  The second half and an inspired substitution allowed Matt Dudley to make it 4-1 after a great touch from Johnny Wilkinson (will someone tell that bloke to shut up, he's always shouting).

The most comical moment of the game came when we were given a penalty and Richard Bennett acting skipper for the day thought it was his duty to take the spot kick.  In true centre half style he blasted the ball over the bar hitting an awaiting passenger at West Ewell station.  Yet another penalty but an excellent save from our keeper Andy Hurriane ensured the final score was 4-1.

A very pleasing result and a fine start to the season.
