SAL Division 4 - 21 January 2006
First objective was to get access to the changing rooms by the Park Cafe. An additional lock has been fitted to the door with the key holder being the lady in the cafe. When asked, she had left them at home. So we rang the park police who eventually turned up and let us in. Rather than stand around we attempted to find a pitch which wasn't being used ending up to the left hand side - my team is far too nice!We are suffering badly from injuries (I only had seven players thirty mins before kick off!) and certain players going AWOL at the moment so we were pleased when we managed to get John Taylor and, following on from his dad's debut in training, Ryan Polley stepped in to help out, signing on and actually paying his joining on fee in pounds sterling! I understand he had worked his way around the teams but no one needed his services. It was just as well as Ross Davies had a very worrying dizzy spell before half time felt ill groggy Christ he had only put in two good crosses! In view of his health we took him off straight away. Even their players and the ref were worried.
Taking into account the scenario we played exceptionally well against a very physical team.
Peter Lester - best display so far (attended training on Tuesday first time in three years. Dick Polley - under pressure to attend training (his brother turned up this week!) put in a MOM display. 0-0 at half time, the game was at stalemate and going nowhere fast. Fortunately Luke Appleton scored his first goal for Cars (in front of his mum). Matt and Luke in midfield worked their socks off against their giants before John Taylor (I have to say John was very well behaved, seemed a really good lad and even came along with full match fees offering to pay upfront! - John also stated that he didn't know training was still going and would like to join us) scored the second. Yes that all important second goal. After that we played keep ball before Ryan remembered that you are allowed to run with the ball rather than just hit it, nodding a cross to make it three.
After that it was quite enjoyable watching on the line as we played keep ball putting various crosses over to Mark Raven watching him fall over as he tried to score.
Henry - you should have seen the smile on his face keeping a clean sheet.
See you at training
