Need to finish!

Due to various reasons we went to Acton with a bare eleven.  We arrived in good time which made a welcome change.  We were then told we had no referee and their skipper was going to carry out this role.  Whilst we appreciated his efforts, his continual coaching to his team was not appreciated and his award of a goal just before half time whereby the ball had not passed across the line was controversial.  In the first half we hammered them - chance after chance went begging.  Fitz, Mikey and Elliott missed chances before they scored from a corner which we should have prevented and when it was awarded should have been cleared.  0-1 down at half time we had to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and get on with it.

To be fair we did.  Again their goalkeeper was outstanding and we were caught by a sucker punch.  The third goal could have been prevented.  We continued to put pressure on them and finally got a penalty.  

Really disappointing result but everyone gave 100%.  We need to stick together to turn it around.  We need to score a couple of goals and we will be flying.  As I left their clubhouse I mentioned to their skipper fair play to him refereeing but please once you take that title do not coach as the game goes on.  I then mentioned that next time we will bring our shooting boots he replied that they were lucky as they only had that goalie for this week.  Sums up our luck at the moment.

For any of my lads reading this… if we all stick together, keep working hard, keep training, we will play through it.  We have to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and make our own luck.
