What a relief after last week’s shambles. Due to various late drop outs we actually had only 9 men at 10 am Saturday morning but thanks to the youngsters and a couple of surplus to requirements club players we had a full composite.
We started off very well, seemingly determined to ‘put things right’ from the previous week with both Elliott and Alex going close early on. Elliott finally finished off a good move front to back with a fine finish. Alex then scored a second followed by an outstanding goal from Frank to make it three. We then stopped playing for ten minutes, turned of and decided to let them have a soft goal from a corner - 3:1 at half time.
Second half we rallied and both Elliott and Alex scored one each again. A spectacular effort from Alex.
It was such a good atmosphere in the changing rooms afterwards. This time we actually scored goals that our play deserved.
Special praise goes to Mike Harwood who was head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch and put in an outstanding display at right back. His speed gave the opposition no chance plus when going forward his distribution was first class. Well done to the youngsters who made their Carshalton debuts. Both Grant and Drew are well known at training and often just come along to support the team. This time they helped out by going as substitute.Thank you to Gary Blackman for running the training last Thursday in my absence. The ironic thing is we have actually played far better and lost this season.
