Carshalton 6th XI |
2 | Danny Berry, Gilles Warrell |
SAL – 8 November 2003
Another Saturday another 6th team game and another 2:2 draw...
A very competitive match played in a very good spirit by both sides. We started slowly allowing the opposition to put us under some pressure during the first fifteen minutes which resulted in a rare Boughton mistake allowing their centre forward to score. Cars then awoke from their slumber and equalised fairly quickly with Danny Berry connecting well to a lose ball resultant from a Dave Jenvey challenge. We then got into our stride going 2-1 up at half time through Gilles Warrell.
Other chances were created but unfortunately we were unable to capitalize on them. On another day Gilles would have had a hatrick before half time.
The second half saw Cars playing up the slope. The first fifteen minutes they put us under some serious pressure with excellent displays required from Dick Polley, Boughton Senior and Junior and Terry Vinson. The pressure eventually told with their equaliser. Terry having made an outstanding save in the first half could only parry a long range shot and their centre forward was grateful for the opportunity and consequently finished. Cars then rallied again with MOM Danny Berry pulling the strings and Gilles hitting the post. Other opportunities fell to John Smith.
2-2 was probably a fair result. I would like to thank all the players who put in a lot of effort against a good young side.
Dave Jenvey
