SAL Cup – 24 January 2004

 Another good win this time in the cup.  The 6s made their debut on the first team pitch this season and won through to the semi final of the SAL Cup, which they have held for the past 2 seasons.  After waiting what seemed an eternity for EBOG to turn up, Cars did their usual trick of starting off slowly, allowing EBOG to dominate the first 15 or so minutes. 

A very important save by Terry Vinson acted as a spur for the team to finally click into gear with a Dave Robins hattrick and Andy Bitmead weighing in with the goals.  After Trevor pulled up with an injury, we were effectively played with ten men which allowed Luke to be left exposed on the left and consequently the opposition scored a late goal.   On the positive side we won the game with a lot to spare after a difficult start but our passing was poor at times.   

Very pleased with Dick Polley and Gareth for their displays making the team play through the bad patch and once we got going Scott Linton and David Robins were able to work their back four allowing us to score the goals.   

Well done.  Back to the league next week.
