SAL - 21 February 2004

A disappointing result / performance after last week's game.  I think if we had still been playing at midnight we wouldn't have scored a goal.  Our failure to convert one of a whole host of chances cost us the game which we controlled whilst Poly played a very direct game in very windy conditions and an awkward pitch.

We started off well with Jez having three headers either saved or missed plus one opportunity whereby we had three chances just to stab the ball over the line.  I could not believe either Jez or Andy Bitmead didn't score.  Both Andy and Dave Robins worked hard up front but no chances were taken.

Their goal came from a corner which although initially cleared the SAL player drove the ball home into the far corner past a number of our players who just could not get to it.  A lucky break indeed.

Second half we camped out in their half.  How Matt Huffer missed I will never know plus Scott Linton.  Poly did have some attacks on the break which Terry Vinson, Peter Lester, Gareth Banton and Dick tidied up well.  One breakaway Scott did well in tracking back when the 'older legs' were tired dare I say.

Anyway we just couldn't score - simple as that. We must move on and get back to basics passing and moving and enjoying the game.  We still have a lot to play for.
