SAL Division 4 - 22nd October 2005
We all knew that this was going to be a tough game and that it was. We went 0-1 down in the first two minutes after some bad defending, but credit is due for the strike. A few minutes later Old Salesians were given a penalty after a James Chambers challenge. James Holland stood his ground and produced a great save although we all thought that he could have caught the ball.
There were a few tackles flying in after that and we started to raise our game. Justin Said chased a loose ball, went round the keeper and finished from an almost impossible angle. Mr Edwards scored from another superb Robins corner. Then Red Ed walked the ball in from another corner. 3-1 up.
Andrew Ferrznolo and Ben Doherty must have worn their socks through with the amount of running they did. The defence looked solid, and even Tony and Dave started to chase the ball down deep in their half. We started to look good as a team! Roberto Carlos was kicked, elbowed, punched and kicked again and still kept on going. Great attitude until booked, which I felt was very harsh given the circumstances.
Red Ed came off with cramp with 10 minutes to go and I came on. I only had to make one challenge which shows how hard the midfield was working. Good stuff. Great game. Man of the match goes to everyone for a gritty performance! The Super Slade can't have it every week.
