SAL Division 4 - 25 November 2006
On the back of 2 convincing wins, our luck seemed to be changing as we hosted a team that had already beat us 5-1 in the league this season. Walking out to the pitch, we realised we should have taken a boat! Never the less, the game went ahead.
A tough start for Carshalton came to an end when terrible communication between the opposition's keeper and centre half saw Matt Perkins latching on to the ball and finishing in an open goal. Their equaliser came when a spectacular, Oscar winning fall in the box allowed them to convert the penalty. 15 minutes before half time, a free kick, 20 yards out was awarded our way. Bradley Room stepped up and his deflected shot was enough to beat the keeper. Half time saw us 2-1 up.
The lead was always going to be difficult to keep, the conditions of the pitch slowed down our usual Brazil attacking mentality. Again they came from behind to score an equaliser with a good left footed effort. After that, Adam Simpson was superb, denying them a number of 1 on 1's. Another four names to mention are Ross Wilding, Dave Thoroughgood, Tom Thoroughgood and Craig Trewin who have been making up a very reliable back four over the last few weeks.
Performance wasn't our strongest this week, but the energy is still there.
Man of the Match- Simo. Superb this week. Well deserved
Chris Mingay
