One of the main skills in writing a match report is
the ability to remember key moments in a game. However, due to
the damage caused by drinking a large amount of alcohol at the club
after the game, my memory of the 6th XI win at HSBC is hazy at best.
Things have improved, as I had actually lost the ability to talk, walk,
and even stand by 10pm on Saturday night. Even spending half an hour
laying in a small copse of trees down near the church (which I had
inadvertently fallen into) did little for my ability to act like a human
being. Strangely though, I do remember John, Aaron and Dan turning up
looking like finalists in a 'Let Gok Wan Dress Your Man Like a 80s Gay
Icon' competition...
I do however remember...
HMS making his first appearance of the season,
and was the unlucky one who had to wear the shirt that was two sizes
smaller than the rest of the kit.
Chris Wells was in on the keeper, slipped at the
vital moment, and the pair of them crashed into one another. I'm
not saying it was a heavy collision, but their keeper had to go off
with injuries to BOTH his ankles. Chris bravely soldiered on with a
small nick in his shin...
Darren Wells scored an absolute biffer from the
centre circle, after being told by the 8 foot tall sub keeper that
'you'll never lob me, mate'.
The pitch was beautiful.
We gave them 2 goals.
Fash scored the winner.
I won a bottle of Glenmorangie.
There's a cup semi this week!
