SAL Division 6 - 4 February 2006
Carshalton 7s knew they had to give a gutsy performance as we were hosting top of the league. The game was played at a very high tempo from the off as both us and Kew were desperate for the points. The game started with both teams evenly matched. Carshalton took a early lead (11 minutes 32 seconds) through a deflected shot from Chris Rose. It might not have gone in if it wasn't for his lucky tights and his silly hat. Kew responded quickly and equalised (16 minutes 45 seconds) with a decent effort although Rick and Jim should have closed him down.... this was beginning to look like a game to remember!!!!!!
Some good work down the right from Adam Lemon set Jim up on a plate to smash home his 1st of the day (23 minutes 19 seconds). Again Kew equalised soon after... with a penalty( 34 minutes 43 seconds). Good stuff tights! They followed this up with another goal going into half time.
Razza gave an inspiring team talk at half time whilst Ricky made daisy chains. Carshalton came out all guns blazing. Adam Lemon got a free kick on the edge of the box after troubling their keeper. The kepper saved from Jim's set piece. From the resulting corner taken by Matt Boyman, Jim nodded home his 2nd (50 minutes 59 seconds).
From there on it was all Carshalton as we pushed for more goals. Kew were lucky to put themselves back in front against the run of play (70 minutes 28 seconds). From here on it was all Carshalton. Kew were lucky to touch the ball. Adam Lemon, Rick and Chris Rose all went close.
After a corner down the Kew end, Razza took a massive 10/10 dive at the edge of the box, which after some arguing from the angered Kew players and the kafuffle that followed. Jim stepped up to put the free kick in the top left corner (85 minutes 01 second). whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
After this Kew can count themselves very lucky not to lose with Adam hitting the post. If this game went on for another 10 mins who knows (maybe God does). Tony we hope your leg gets better soon (your in all our prayers big man).
A great effort from all the Carshalton lads. Wiggle wiggle!!!!
