After Merton did the double over us last season, one that included a 9-1 drubbing, it was not a fixture that most from last season were looking forward to. Merton started the better putting the 7s under pressure. We quickly broke on the counter with good movement from Rick and Lem producing a goal with Lemo being brave to put a foot in. Merton though kept on the offensive but were limited to chances from well outside the box. Again we hit them on the break with Steve playing the ball through to Lem who took two touches to compose himself and finished well. We went into half time at 2-0.

We started poorly in the second half with Merton getting to the first and second balls.  This pressure told with a soft goal. Our heads though didn't go down, and we hit them with a great sweeping move that saw Rich Clark produce a cross that even Ricky couldn't pass the opportunity to score. Nearer the end of the game we had numerous chances with Merton leaving themselves open at the back. We finally sealed the victory with Lemo finishing off from a long ball from Matt B completing his hatrick. Which led to him being MOM.
