SAL Division 5 - 11th November 2006
With all the talk that we going to win the league this fixture was to prove that we need to start playing like we did at the beginning of the season.
We started the game up against a very good HSBC team and were on the back foot throughout the first half. We had a couple of chances but not convincing enough to be able to go ahead. We were lucky to be at 0-0 by half time after their HSBC striker rounded Mark the keeper only for Mike Hammond to clear the ball off the line. Moments later an HSBC corner was curled in for Dylan our right back to clear the ball away from the far post.
As the second half kicked off we picked up our game, our right midfielder Jim Armstrong played a ball down the right (he would run it down the line but he's not exactly fast) for Rick Morris to pick and put a cross in to Jay Breen which he dummied and Adam Lemon using good strength to beat the defender to put the ball in the net.
Being 1-0 up only lasted a few minutes when were caught napping and punished with the equaliser. As the game progressed and HSBC being down to 10 men, we did not take full advantage and couldn't pull our game together and it was just a matter of time before they put another goal past us which they achieved. 2-1 down and it could of been a lot more if it wasn't for our keeper Mark Brown to pull off a couple of point blank saves that earned him applause from the HSBC fans in the last few minutes.
MOM - Mike Hammond Solid at the back and looked comfortable on the ball.
Rick Morris
