For the 3 time this season we had to play a Norsemen side and they both have to come back down to us for another league meeting.  Time for Kick off… Goal…. They had scored with only 20 seconds gone; we didn’t even get a touch, could this get any worse…. Yes… 10 minutes gone we were 2-0 down.  After the tactical switch by moving Michael “Ankles” Hammond we started to look more composed at the back with a bit more pace at the back. 

Within about 5 minutes of us getting to grips with the game, Joe” The Spin Doctor” Cox got kicked in the b******s and for the second year running in the SAL cup for had to roll off the pitch, making sure they had not fallen out of his shorts.

On came David "HMS" Paterson going into the back line making our average age including Andy at least 40 years old, but you have to remember that Chris our left back is only about 16.  (Shocking).  "Ankles" moved up in centre midfield while Michael “Shevi” Connolly and the Ty ”Tigger” Knight went out the right wing and Jason on the left. 

Now we meant business.  Runs by Jason and Ty down the wings, though passes from "Shevi" and "Ankles", the skill of Elliot and the power of the “Hunny Monster” (Chris Clark) we started to find weakness in their back line.  The breakthough came from a throw on the left which found the Hunny Monster.  As he put in the cross it came of the defender's head but Ty managed to get there before the keeper and just flick it in at the far post.

In the second half we were all over them with crosses coming in from both flanks and HMS, Ankles and Monster all coming close from headers.  Shevi and Elliot both were coming close with shots from all around the area.  Then we got a corner.  Ty took it and it got cleared away, Ty picked it back up near the corner flag, then he passed it to Shevi on the edge of the box as he shot he slipped and the ball floated in the top corner.  Then within 10 minutes of us getting back into the game they scored again to make it 3-2.  But we were not going to let all the hard work go to waste.  A long ball from HMS found Ty on the right, he beat the defender and it looked like a mis-hit cross but it went straight in the top corner, 3-3.

There were no goals in extra time, but once again we out-classed them.  Great saves from Andy and with last ditched tackles and glaring misses it then went into a penalty shoot-out. 

Our goals came from Tigger and Ankles but the misses came from Elliot, Andy and HMS.

Even though we lost we can take a lot from this game.  We had 3 men playing for us for the first time; we were 2 down within 10 minutes; we haven’t even played together for 5 weeks. 

7s, we are coming for you in the league… Watch out, especially Razza.
