SAL Division 7 South  – 24th September 2005

Another great score line matched by another great performance. However 6-1 did flatter Carshalton even though they played extremely well.  Under pressure from the start the Carshalton back four did well to keep the score at nil nil.

As the game reached half way through the first half a great battling performance from Carshalton paid off when Dave Thoroughgood was hacked down on the edge of the area. Up stepped left back Trevor Broughton to curl in a sweet left footed shot which nestled neatly in the back of the net. Only a few minutes later Carshalton turned up the heat causing trouble for their opponents back four, which resulted in a pass back in a difficult position. Tom Rose blasted a low hard drive, from the resulting free kick, into the bottom corner to put Carshalton two nil up at the half way stage.

The Carshalton captain did not need to provide any words of inspiration or encouragement as his team new they had battled well.  Full of confidence Carshalton pushed forward straight from the restart their first attack resulted in Tom Thoroughgood being released into the left side of the opposition's area and with some neat footwork Tom made enough space to place the ball just passed a diving keeper. Even when three nil up Carshalton still pushed on, a hopeful ball was lofted into the area the opposing keeper mis-judged the ball and left Mark to place the ball into an open net.

This was Mark's first goal for the eighth team, a great achievement for Mark as he has now scored for every level for Carshalton FC (1s through to vets).

However he wasn’t finished there, moments later great link up play between the two Toms saw a ball being played across the goalkeeper for the “cool head?” of Mark Lowther snr to slot home. A solid back line consisting of Trevor and Luke B, John T, Alan B, Dave T and Goalkeeper Aaron W, looked solid all game and played with great authority, were very unlucky to concede a well taken goal. Late subs Adrian C and Andy B came on to provide immediate affect Adrian was released one on one with a goalkeeper who had no chance with a very well placed shot. So another great score provides ever growing confidence to an impressive Carshalton side.

No man of the match this week due to great team effort
