SAL Division 7 South  – 8th October 2005

A very close game and probably the hardest game we have had so far.  Keeper Aaron White returned to a team which had the introduction of Carshalton’s Andy Cook.  Our opponents started brighter with a few decent opportunities which were well kept out by Aaron and his defence.  With only a well struck volley from Dave Thoroughgood to their name Carshalton could only battle and make a few half chances and go into the break feeling that they could perform better.

The restart of the game automatically saw a completely different looking Carshalton team with a bit more confidence and more wanting of the ball Carshalton created chance after chance.  Mark Lowther Snr struck a beautiful shot which troubled their keeper and forced him to push it over the bar.  Toms Thoroughgood and Rose both had good runs which could have ended with better results.  Then Dave Thoroughgood received the ball and had a shot which was blocked and fell to the oncoming Andy Cook, who had played well all game, to shoot first time and score for Carshalton.

Carshalton still pressed and could have got another but were unlucky not to. A great battling performance and Carshalton can take a lot from this game and keep up a good run of performances.
