Things started to improve for us with this result.  Back to league games and a trip to Merton to play their 6s who were looking to go top with a win that day, having already spanked us earlier in the season.  But the introduction of John Taylor to midfield gave us some much needed balls and at half time we were 1 up thanks to Andy Bitmead's return to scoring.

Merton came out in the second half more determined and at times over the top with their coach on the line shouting "take them out".  Disappointing to hear, especially as they were trying to intimidate our youngsters.  We did not buckle and gave as good as we got with Martin Shew, Alan Barrett and Jamie Greenslade at the back having plenty of weight to throw around ourselves these days.  In fact I would challenge any other team to match us at the back on the celebrity fit club scales. 

Anyway another goal by Andy B in the second after great work from me bombing down the line and chipping over the 3 defenders and goalkeeper to Andy waiting at the back post to put the ball over the line with his face, and then a tidy finish from Adrian Clarke and it was job done.  Merton were not happy.
